MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF BILLETS

Raw material, mainly Sponge Iron and DRI / Pig Iron, is charged into the fumace. Extra carbon in the form of free carbon or excess carbon present in the feed is also added depending upon the quantum of sponge iron in the charge. As soon as the charge is completely molten, necessary Ferro alloys and deoxidizers are added.

The hot metal is poured in the preheated ladle after adding certain fluxes so that the temperature is maintained at about 1600°C. Ladle is then moved by EOT Crane to the Con-Cast Machine (CCM) and hot metal starts pouring into the Con-Cast Machine.

The solidified billet further passes through straightening machine, cut to required length and sent to the conveyor system to the various mill stands in rolling mill division.
